We are two artists who have developed a very special collaboration to produce an unusual art form. We think you will find it as fascinating as we do. It is named "BrushedLens" that best describes this collaborative art combining photography and painting.
We devote a lot of time and love to these works, using only the highest quality materials. Each BrushedLens photograph is first printed on archival artist's canvas using the giclee method. Before putting brush to canvas, Barbara spends much time 'feeling' just what needs to be added or enhanced in the photo, to make it more appealing to the viewer. She modifies lighting, shadows and details in those portions of the photo that allow the entire piece to benefit.
Each Giclee is wrapped on stretchers with the image continuing around the sides. It is then framed in a "floating frame" that allows the piece to be viewed without glass or reflections. The image becomes vibrant and alive with room lighting.
Our creative process is very painstaking and time consuming, so please know that, when you order one of our art works, it will have been carefully selected and enhanced to produce a "one of a kind" work of art from the photo eye of John Baldwin and the artistic creative impressions of Barbara Archer.
In addition to the original, Giclee reprints on canvas of the original can be ordered. Larger sizes are available upon request. Reprints are framed similarly to the original.
We have also developed a training tool for novice art students to use in developing their skills with mediums and colors called "Seedlings". These 8 1/2" X 11" black and white images on canvas provide the basic drawing for the artist to use as the foundation of their painting. Of course, the artist can change and modify the peice so it becomes their own creative art work and can be framed when completed. A selection of "Seedlings" can be seen in the "Seedlings" Gallery.
Also in our gallery are selected photographs by John and selected pastel and acrylic pieces by Barbara.
